The pictures above are from a service in the late 1970's. I have included them because they show
the Altar and the ornate wrought iron screen.

The two pictures (above left & centre) again were taken in the late 1970's.  Rev. James Tabbern
was the Vicar from late 1972 to 1979.  You can see James Tabbern preaching from the pulpit
above centre.  The picture above left is from the same service. These are the earliest pictures
that we have come across  that are in colour.  The picture (above right) is another view of inside
St. Mark's and the wrought iron screen can be seen quite well.

These two pictures are new (14 Jan 2003) to this gallery.  They were found as we  were sorting out
some papers  in the parish office. They were taken 26 August 1984 prior to the refurbishment and
rebuilding in 1984-85.

This picture was also found at the same time as the two above.  We believe it was taken just after the refurbishment and rebuilding in 1984 / 85.

Reredos  & Side Chapel

Side Chapel Reredos (25KB) Side Chapel (12KB)

The two pictures above are of the Reredos that was in the Side Chapel prior to renovation in the 1980's and of
the Side Chapel after the renovations works in the 1980's.  It is a shame that the
Reredos was sold shortly after.
(Reredos
a carved or painted screen behind the altar).  Nowadays the side Chapel is used for the storage of all
the musical instruments etc. which is a shame.
