We at St. Mark's Church in Gillingham would like to welcome you to our church and to our place in cyberspace. We want to let you know a little about our life together as a church fellowship . . .

bulletWhat We Believe:

There is only one God who made the world and who loves each one of us.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  He came into this world as a man to show us what God is like and make it possible for us to know God and to live with Him for ever.

Today, God is at work in the world and in each believer by His Holy Spirit, who shows us the way to God.

The Bible is God's word.  It tells us that there is only one way to God, and that is through Jesus Christ.  By His death on the cross He took on Himself the sins for the whole world - including ours - and so removed the barrier between us and God.  To those who believe in Him, and who trust Him for forgiveness, He gives the gift of eternal life.

St. Mark's is part of the Diocese of Rochester and is a full member of the world-wide Anglican Communion.

bullet Our Life Together:

The church is not a building, it is us, the people. The building is simply the place where the church meets.   However, our life is much more than meeting together on Sundays.

Jesus taught us that, as Christians, his Father is also our Father, and so we are his brothers and sisters together in God's family. Since St. Mark's is a family of over two hundred, we are divided up into a number of Home Groups, each having between ten and fifteen members. Each group meets once a week in order to study the Bible together and to support and care for one another.

As well as supporting one another we believe that God commands us to go out to others with his message and his love.

Besides our home groups there are other groups that meet during the week.
These  include groups for mothers and toddlers, women at home during the day, youth, men etc.

(separate details are available on the Noticeboard).

bullet Our Sunday Worship:

Sunday is the day when the whole family of God comes together under one roof.
The purpose of meeting together is to worship God, to hear what he has to say to us through the teaching from the Bible and to talk to him in prayer.

We aim to find a style of meeting that balances the formal and traditional with worship that is open and informal.
Communion Services alternate between the morning and evening services.
All children from birth to teenagers have their own programme of teaching and worship each Sunday.
On the first Sunday of each month we gather together, young and old, for our all age Family Service.

We hope that this tells you something about our beliefs and our life as a church.
If you would like to know more, or feel that you may want to come to St Mark's, please get in touch with us.
You can contact us by way of the Noticeboard.  Alternatively just enjoy browsing our web pages.

"Our Church building houses a living congregation
who seek to worship God.
At the centre of our worship is the risen Lord Jesus
who introduces us to the
Father and equips us for our work in the world by the Holy Spirit."
